Pelotas is a city with 343,167 inhabitants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil . It is located about 240 km south of Porto Alegre . Adjacent are the places Morro Redondo , Canguçu , Arroio do Padre , São Lourenço do Sul , Turuçu , Capão do Leão and Rio Grande . Originally, Pelotas was part of the Rio Grande community.
