William de Asevedo Furtado , called William (born April 3, 1995 in Pelotas , RS ) is a Brazilian soccer player . The right-footer is mainly used as a right-back, alternatively also as a right-winger. He has been playing for VfL Wolfsburg since July 2017 .
Career
William started his career in the youth team of EC Juventude and Internacional Porto Alegre . In the second, he also made the leap into the first team. On March 15, 2015, he played his first game as a professional. In the state championship of Rio Grande do Sul against the Gremio Esportivo Brasil , he ran from the start. Just two months later he made his international club debut. In the 2015 Copa Libertadores , he played in the round of 16 against Atlético Mineiro on May 7th . The player played his first Serie A game on May 31, 2015 against São Paulo FC .
On January 24, 2017 it was announced that VfL Wolfsburg wanted to sign William. The President of Internacional wants to sell the player in any case, as William wants to change. VfL had offered four million euros for the player. Internacional, however, asked for six million. The club has to expect less income from television and entrance fees in 2017 after being relegated for the first time at the end of the 2016 season (according to the count from 1971).
On June 15, 2017, William finally signed with VfL Wolfsburg . His contract with the Wolves runs until 2022. Before moving to Germany, William played 104 competitive games in various competitions (6 Copa Libertadores , 61 Série A , 2 Série B , 14 Copa do Brasil , 31 State Championship of Rio Grande do Sul and 4 in the Primeira Liga do Brasil 2016 ).
On December 22, 2018, the 17th matchday of the 2018/19 season, William scored his first Bundesliga goal for Wolfsburg in a 3-2 away win against FC Augsburg .

For the 2016 Summer Olympics , William was appointed to the U-23 team . He came to three missions and won the gold medal with the team.
