Lennart Pyritz

Lennart Wolfgang Pyritz (* around 1977 ) is a biologist, science journalist and moderator. At Deutschlandfunk (DLF), he alternates with others to present the program “ Research Current ”.

Life

Pyritz studied biology in Bielefeld and Göttingen and received his doctorate in 2008 at the German Primate Center (DPZ) with the work "Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology" on the group behavior of lemurs of the red-fronted lemurs . For the data acquisition he spent 14 months at a research station in the dry forest of western Madagascar and ran the blog on this topic on Spektrum.de , which was published as a book in 2012 with further details (“Von Makis und Menschen”, Verlag Springer Spektrum ). After completing his doctoral thesis, Pyritz switched to science journalism, sat in on the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Munich, Zeit Wissen in Hamburg and worked as a substitute editor for the program Quarks (then “Quarks & Co”) at WDR . From 2012 to 2014 he volunteered at Deutschlandfunk (then “Deutschlandradio”) in Cologne and Berlin and for a month at the BBC World Service in London. He then worked as a junior employee in the science department of Deutschlandfunk in Cologne. From September 10th to October 22nd he interrupted his employment at the DLF in order to work again as a journalist in Madagascar with a research grant from the Heinz Kühn Foundation .
