Michael Lange (journalist)
Michael Lange (* 1958 ) is a biologist, presenter, freelance science and radio journalist, known from the program “ Research News ” on Deutschlandfunk.
Life
In 1989 he studied biology in Bonn and published his first newspaper articles in the world and in the Bonner General-Anzeiger . After graduating, he received a grant from the Robert Bosch Foundation for Science Journalism in 1991 . In 1992, one of three internships took him to the “ Wissenschaft aktuell ” editorial team at Deutschlandfunk, where he remained freelance. Between 2000 and 2005 he made the program “Mensch, Umwelt, Technik” on Deutsche Welle with Jan Lublinski .
In 2006, together with Dagmar Röhrlich and Ralf Krauter, he started the radio format "Auslese", about currently published scientific books, which has since been published quarterly in " Wissenschaft im Brennpunkt " and since 2014 as a YouTube channel "Auslese Kompakt" . He is the author of around 70 issues of “Wissenschaft im Brennpunkt” , the holiday edition of “Research News” , as well as of the “Wissenschaftsmteilungen” , alternating with other authors.
Between 2007 and 2015 he made the report series “Leo2Go” with Martin Winkelheide as part of the program “Leonardo” on WDR5 . Lange moderates roundtables on science and politics with a focus on bio and biology.
Awards
- 1998: Wilhelm and Ingeborg Roloff Prize of the German Lung Foundation for "Tuberculosis - the forgotten epidemic" on tuberculosis and cystic fibrosis
- 2006: Together with Martin Winkelheide, the Georg von Holtzbrinck Prize for Science Journalism for "Creation - eighth day" and "Gene therapy: Hope dies last"
