Markus Büchler (born July 31, 1973 in Munich ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Study and job

Büchler completed his first degree at the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences in the field of landscape architecture as a graduate engineer. In addition, he completed a second degree as a Magister Artium in the subjects of history and philosophy at the Distance University in Hagen . In 2013 he did his doctorate at the same distance university on the subject of constitution as a campaign .

politics

In 1991 Büchler became a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . He built up the youth contact point Upper Bavaria, the forerunner of the Green Youth Bavaria, and led it. In the Munich district assembly, Büchler was the managing director of the Green Group from 1998 to 2014. From 2006 to 2014 he was spokesman for the Munich-Land district of the Greens. From 1999 to 2003 he was a part-time employee of the state parliament member Susanna Tausendfreund . From 2005 he worked part-time for the member of the Bundestag Anton Hofreiter .

In the 2014 municipal elections, Markus Büchler was elected as a councilor in Oberschleißheim and as a district councilor in the Munich district. In the district council he is deputy leader of the Greens. In 2015, Büchler was involved in the re-establishment of the Upper Bavaria district association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and was elected chairman of the Bavarian district association with the largest number of members and was confirmed in this office in 2017.

Büchler moved into the Bavarian state parliament in the state elections in Bavaria in 2018 , after he achieved the eighth best overall vote result on the constituency list of the Greens in the constituency of Upper Bavaria . Büchler is a member of the Committee for Building, Housing and Transport of the Bavarian State Parliament. He was chosen by the green parliamentary group as their spokesman for mobility.

Furthermore, Büchler is married and has two children.
