The Lennons is from Pforzheim coming punk rock band that was formed in March 1981, is one of the oldest bands of this genre.

history

In autumn 1981 the group's first EP was released ( The Truth About Claudia, Erika and All the Others ), which was not allowed to be played on the radio due to the revealing lyrics and was sold out in a very short time. In 1989 the EP Blood Orgy in the Leichengrube was published, which is now also out of print.

After a German tour with the Yugoslav punk rock band Kud Idjoti , the live album Lebendig gefressen was released in 1991 .

To mark the band's 15th stage anniversary, the 10 "-Picture EP The World Is Bad was released in 1996. A tour of Germany with the Scottish band Hugh Reed & The Velvet Underpants followed in October . In the same month a concert took place at the Autumn Gatherings in England Bath , where the Lennons played with bands like The Damned and the UK Subs, and the concert was released on video.

In February 1997 the band traveled to Scotland, where they were supported in Edinburgh by Exploited guitarist Big John . A repetition tour followed in August of the same year.

In 1998 the album Rache für Elvis was released . Various concerts and open-air festivals followed, including with the English punk legend Attila the Stockbroker . In August the band played for the first time at a major punk rock festival in Maribor , Slovenia.

In 2002 the new studio album Der Weg nach Eden was released with 16 new songs. Axel Kurth ( WIZO ) and Archi Alert ( terror group ) could be won as guest singers .

style

The music of the Lennons is the classic punk rock of the late 70s, which has little to do with hardcore and relies on catchy melodies. The German texts deal with political issues such as racism or reunification as well as late-adolescent teenage fantasies.
