Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl is a comic character and the name of the most famous comic by the American comic artist Roman Dirge . The character Lenore is loosely based on the poem of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe .

The ongoing black humor series is published by Slave Labor Graphics. Since February 2009 it has also been published in German by UBooks-Verlag . There is also a 26-part cartoon series, and a film is being planned. The series is drawn in the typical black and white Dirge style.

action

It tells the story of Lenore, a small (un) dead girl who died of pneumonia but is resurrected after her funeral. The comic offers bitter black humor and often a purposeful punch line . The first eight issues of the series consisted of self-contained, shorter stories. The series has had an ongoing story since issue 9. The plot, in which numerous bizarre creatures also appear, lives primarily from the naivety of the girl Lenore, who with her inexperienced behavior transports other living beings into the afterlife.

main characters

  • Lenore: A 10 year old undead girl, clueless and naive, who lives in an old abandoned mansion. She loves animals, but often accidentally kills them. She dies every now and then, but keeps climbing out of the grave.
  • Ragamuffin: A malicious little rag doll. 100 years ago, Ragamuffin was a vampire who ate people. When he ate a girl, her sister turned him into a doll as a punishment. This annoys him very much, he is still immortal and now trapped in this form.
  • Mr. Gosh: A boy who is in love with Lenore. Lenore doesn't like him and keeps killing him. However, he keeps coming back. She hit him (according to his information 164 times) with the lawnmower, which is why he wears a kind of sock over his face on the buttons as eyes are sewn on.
  • Taxidermy: A man with the head of an embalmed deer. He justifies his strange appearance with an illness.
  • Muffin Monster: A little muffin addict that now also lives at Lenore's.
  • Pooty: He's actually a bounty hunter who was supposed to bring Lenore back to the underworld. However, he befriends her and now lives in her villa.
  • Kittens: Lenore often carries small dead kittens with her. She killed them without noticing and continues to carry them with her.
