UBooks publisher
The Ubooks-Verlag is a book publisher based in Augsburg, Bavaria. It was founded in 2000 by Andreas Reichardt and Andreas Köglowitz.
history
The publisher started out in 2000 as a “ print-on-demand ” publisher because there was no money for large editions. However, since 2005, UBooks has been a normal edition publisher. The company was located in the old Reese barracks in Augsburg . In 2003, books and calendars began to be printed in larger editions. The company headquarters was relocated to the city center of Augsburg. In March 2005, due to space problems, the company headquarters was moved to the outskirts of Augsburg to Neusäß .
The success of some of the titles in the program prompted management to outsource the Print-on-Demand division to a new publisher in order to be accepted as a “full-fledged” publisher by the book trade. This program change and the outsourcing of the camp made the third move in four years in March 2006 to Diedorf near Augsburg necessary. In 2012 the company moved to Mossautal and was renamed Ubooks / U-Line.
In 2014, the publishing house was shut down and the two publishers separated to set up their own publishing houses. In 2011 the Invisible Publishing House was founded by Andreas Köglowitz; 2014 Andreas Reichardt's U-Line Verlag.
In addition to promoting German authors, since 2006 the company has also been importing unusual literature from countries such as Norway or the USA and processing it for the German market.
today
The old motto “We lay, while others are laid” was changed in 2005 during the restructuring to “Literature beyond the everyday”. Andreas Reichardt has been running the publishing house alone since 2011. His partner Andreas Köglowitz founded the Insichtbar Verlag , in which several authors have been publishing since then. In 2013 there was a relaunch of the anti-pop series from Ubooks, with a completely new layout. The series now appears as a hardcover, and instead of white minimalist covers, impressive photographs characterize the cover pictures. The publishing program is divided into the following categories:
