Leon Peter Barnett (born November 30, 1985 in Luton ) is an English football player and defensive specialist .

Career

Barnett was already active in the Luton Town youth academy before joining the club's professional squad in the summer of 2002. After he came there only occasionally in the beginning, the club officials decided to loan him to the amateur club Aylesbury United . After his return to the 2005/06 season, Barnett showed an improvement in performance and played his way into the starting line-up of Luton. The fans honored these achievements by choosing the defender as the team's best player in 2006/07. Other clubs became aware of him during this time and so he moved to West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2007 , where Barnett signed a four-year contract. At the end of the season they reached first place in the Football League Championship and thus promotion to the Premier League , a year later, however, followed the immediate relegation to the second division.

Leon Barnett has played for Norwich City in the Football League Championship since January 1, 2011 .
