Leonhard Gunkel

Leonhard Gunkel (born around 1878 ; died January 16, 1918 ) was a German painter and art teacher , church painter and restorer .

Life

Leonhard Gunkel studied at the Dresden Art Academy under Otto Gußmann . During his studies in Dresden he made his first church paintings.

In 1907 Gunkel's daughter was born. From the same year until 1917, Gunkel was listed in the address book of the city of Bremen; initially as a painter, then also as a teacher, as whom he worked at the Bremen Trade School and the Bremen Trade Museum from 1908 .

In addition to painting sacred buildings, Gunkel also created works, some of which he showed at the Bremen Art Exhibition held from 1912 to 1913 .

The artist, who died in early 1918, left a widow, who was listed in the Bremen address book from 1918, and a 10-year-old half-orphan.
