Leonid Ivanovich Zhdanov (December 7, 2019 in Saint Petersburg )

Leonid Ivanovich Schdanow ( Russian Леонид Иванович Жданов ; born February 18, 1938 in the village of Markomussy, Plesetsk district , Arkhangelsk Oblast ) is a Soviet - Russian vice admiral . From 1987 to 1992 he was the 15th and last in command of the Caspian Higher Officers School of the Soviet Naval Navy .

Life

Zhdanow comes from a farming family. His mother died before the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War and his father died as a soldier in 1943 during the Leningrad blockade . He grew up with his grandmother and, after her death, with aunt and uncle. After completing the 4th grade, he entered the Leningrad Nakhimov Naval War School in 1950 , which he graduated in 1956. He then attended the higher submarine officer school . After its completion, Lieutenant Zhdanov served from 1960 in the Northern Fleet as commander of the navigation combat section (GA-1) on the submarine S-276 ( Project 613 ), which was stationed in Gremicha . Later he became chief officer on the nuclear submarine K-181 ( Project 627 ) and for some time afterwards deputy commander of a submarine flotilla of the Northern Fleet. From 1987 to 1992 he headed the Caspian Higher Officers School of the Naval Forces of the USSR .

After his retirement, he worked in the Central Cartography Unit of the Russian Navy .

Zhdanov is married and has three children.
