Gordon Dailley

Gordon Debenham Dailley (born July 24, 1911 in Calgary , Alberta , Canada ; † May 3, 1989 in Cambridge , Ontario , Canada) was a British ice hockey player who was, among other things, Olympic champion with his country in 1936.

Career

Gordon Dailley began his career as a hockey player in Great Britain in 1933, where he played for the Grosvenor House Canadians. From 1935 to 1937 he played for the Wembley Lions and then from 1937 to 1939 for the Wembley Monarchs. During the Second World War , Dailley joined the Canadian armed forces. He later served in the Korean War and became Canadian military attaché in Yugoslavia in 1955 . In the following years he was, among other things, commander of a military base in New Brunswick .

International

For Great Britain Dailley took part in the World Championships in 1935 , 1937 , 1938 and 1939 . He also represented his country at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he and his team won the gold medal. The tournament was also rated as a world and European championship, which is why he and his team also won these titles. In 1993 he was posthumously inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame like all other members of the 1936 Olympic Champion team .
