Leopold Schmalhorst (born January 14, 1886 in Herford ; † unknown) was a German architect who worked from Düsseldorf . As settlement commissioner , Gauwohnungskommissar , Empire homestead ladder and politicians he pursued Nazi goals. Participated with other architects, among other things, in the design of the Reich Exhibition Schaffendes Volk .

Party membership and professional career

Leopold Schmalhorst was a city councilor in Düsseldorf for the NSDAP from March 12, 1933 to December 15, 1933.

At the suggestion of Gauleiter Friedrich Karl Florian , Schmalhorst became head of the housing and settlement office in the Düsseldorf government in 1931 . In 1938 Florian removed him from the office of Gauamtsleiter. Since April 1933, Schmalhorst was settlement commissioner for the Düsseldorf area, a function that he exercised full-time from 1942. From 1943 to 1945 he was district housing commissioner.

His efforts to become active in the public sector after the end of the war failed because of his National Socialist activities and his behavior as a "presumptuous and tactless, self-confident National Socialist".
