Leopold Weiß (typesetter)

Leopold Weiß (* 1840 ; † March 1923 in Vienna ) was an Austrian typesetter .

In the late 19th century he developed a system of logotypes that was supposed to speed up hand typesetting . In 1883 in a betting in Vienna he reached 3,500 letters in one hour. A society was formed in England that wanted to work with his system. White continued to improve his system despite the introduction of the typesetting machine .
