Leopold Wolf (politician)

Leopold Wolf (born June 19, 1899 in Vienna ; † July 15, 1964 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and industrial worker. He was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag and from 1945 to 1962 a member of the Austrian National Council .

After elementary school, Wolf attended a community school and completed courses at the Vienna Adult Education Center. He worked as an errand boy, shopkeeper and winery worker before he became a worker in the Steyrermühl AG paper mill in Laakirchen from 1922 . In addition, he was active as a shop steward for the Upper Austrian paper workers and was involved as a functionary of the free trade unions. He also served as a local councilor in Laakirchen from 1924 to 1934 and represented the Social Democratic Labor Party from May 15, 1931 to February 12, 1934 in the Upper Austrian state parliament. As a result of the Austrian Civil War , Wolf was arrested for political reasons in 1934. In 1938, too, Wolf was arrested several times after the National Socialists came to power. After the Second World War, Wolf became a central works council and a member of the SPÖ regional group in Upper Austria and represented the SPÖ in the National Council from December 19, 1945 to December 14, 1962. In addition, from 1945 he was Vice Mayor of Laakirchen.
