Leopold von der Schulenburg

Leopold Christian Wilhelm Johann Graf von der Schulenburg (born April 10, 1769 in Emden (Altenhausen) , † October 31, 1826 in Bodendorf ) was a Prussian district administrator , landowner and member of parliament.

Life

Von der Schulenburg was the youngest son of Alexander Jakob von der Schulenburg . He attended the Brandenburg Knight Academy and then embarked on a military career. He served as a soldier from 1784 to 1798. From 1792 to 1795 he took part in military campaigns as a lieutenant in the Duke regiment of Braunschweig. In 1798 he received the estate Bodendorf with Hohenwarsleben and Ivenrode when the estate was divided. He took his military leave and took care of the management of his property. In the same year, von der Schulenburg was raised to the rank of count. In 1791 he married Ernestine Marie Christine d'Orville von Löwenclau .

From 1798 he was a district deputy in the 2nd Magdeburg Wood Circle . In 1803 he became district administrator there. After Prussia had occupied the Electorate of Hanover on the basis of the Paris treatise in 1806 , Schulenburg was transferred to the organization of the state. After the formation of the Kingdom of Westphalia , he became sub-prefect of the Stendal district . After the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, he became district administrator of the Neuhaldensleben district in 1813 and remained so until his death. In 1825 he was a member of the first provincial parliament of the province of Saxony . He was elected for the rank of knighthood in the Magdeburg constituency.

From 1799 he was also a deputy at the fire society for the wood circles. In 1805 he became director of the district fire society of this district. From 1821 he was director of the Magdeburgische Land-Feuer-Societät .
