Leptocereus arboreus is a species of plant in the genus Leptocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet arboreus comes from Latin and means 'tree-like'.

Leptocereus arboreus grows tree-shaped with numerous upright branches and reaches heights of 5 to 8 meters. A trunk with a diameter of 30 centimeters and more is formed. The shoots tapered towards their base are 30 to 100 centimeters long. The uppermost shoot sections reach a diameter of 3.5 to 6 centimeters. There are four to five thin, narrow, slightly notched ribs . The up to ten persistent, needle-like, yellowish thorns are up to 5 centimeters long.
The bell-shaped whitish flowers are up to 3 inches long. Your light green pericarpel is very thorny. The ellipsoidal, densely yellowish thorny fruits are up to 10 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 6 centimeters.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Leptocereus arboreus is common in Cuba .
It was first described in 1912 by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose . A synonym is Cereus arboreus Vaupel (1912).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. listed as endangered.
