Leptocereus santamarinae is a species of plant in the genus Leptocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet santamarinae honors the Cuban J. Santamarina Guerra.

description

Leptocereus santamarinae grows vigorously shrubby or tree-shaped with ascending branches and reaches heights of 6 to 8 meters. The shoots reach a diameter of 3.5 to 5.5 centimeters. There are five to six flattened and wavy ribs . The areoles are located in the indentations of the ribs. The eight to 25 needle-like, piercing, spreading, yellowish thorns turn gray with age. They are 0.3 to 2.1 inches long.

The funnel-shaped white flowers appear at the shoot tips and open at night. They are 5.7 to 7.2 inches long and 3.3 to 3.6 inches in diameter. Your pericarpel and the tube of flowers are thorny. The ellipsoidal to spherical green fruits are thorny. They reach a length of 6 to 8 centimeters and a diameter of 5 to 7 centimeters.

Distribution and systematics

Leptocereus santamarinae is common in northeastern Cuba .
