Bus of the initiative in Metz

Les Restos du Cœur (short for French Les Restaurants du Cœur - Relais du Cœur , German The restaurants of the heart ) is a French initiative that distributes food and clothing to those in need during the winter months. It was founded in 1985 by the French comedian and film actor Coluche , whose real name is Michel Colucci. For Coluche it was a matter of the heart to fight against racism and poverty with wit and humor in his films and stage appearances. The campaign is supported by numerous celebrities who - united under the name Les Enfoirés - give benefit concerts that have become the francophone show event of the year.

Since 1992 there has been a "restaurant of the heart" in Erfurt . It is open from December 6th to the end of January. Since 1995 there has also been a “restaurant of the heart” in Leipzig . Those in need receive a three-course menu on 32 days from December to January.
