The Lessing district school in Hamburg-Harburg is a district school with an integrated upper level .

The Lessing Aufbaugymnasium was founded in 1973 and was located in 1976 in the former Lyceum at the military cemetery from 1902. This Art Nouveau building is despite considerable bomb damage from World War II and not sympathetic restoration in the 1950s under monument protection . From 1995 the building was restored and adapted to today's needs.

Old school building of the Lessing district school at 21 military cemetery

In 2010 the Lessing district school was created through the merger of the secondary and secondary schools in Hanhoopsfeld and Sinstorf with the Lessing advanced high school. At the Sinstorf location, lessons for the 5th to 8th grade took place, in Hanhoopsfeld the 9th and 10th grades were taught and the military cemetery was used for the preliminary and upper grades. The preliminary stage is intended to enable students with an above-average intermediate degree to obtain the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur). There the students are prepared for the lessons in the upper level. The lessons in the upper level took place across schools with the district school Ehestorfer Weg. The degree to be obtained in this way is achieved by successfully completing the Hamburg Central Abitur .

Since February 2019, lessons have only taken place at one location, in newly constructed buildings at Hanhoopsfeld 21. The listed building at Am Friedhof 21 is to be converted into a primary school. The newly founded Sinstorfer Weg primary school moved into the Sinstorfer building in summer 2020. The reason for the activities is the increasing number of students.
