Peggy's Point lighthouse
The Lighthouse Peggy's Point in Canada Peggy's Cove marks the eastern entrance to the St. Margaret's Bay. The village of Peggy's Cove is on a headland whose southwestern tip is known as Peggy's Point. Colloquially, the lighthouse is sometimes referred to as Peggy's Cove lighthouse . The lighthouse is located on the 339-kilometer lighthouse route along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia and is one of the main attractions of this province. It is a landmark far beyond the regional borders . The lighthouse motif was minted on the Canadian dollar 25 cent coins in 1992 . In addition, in 2004 and 2005 $ 20 silver coins with the Peggy's Point lighthouse appeared.
The concrete shaft of the 15 meter high tower is white, its metal pulpit is red. The cross-sections of the upwardly tapering shaft and the pulpit are octagonal. The uppermost part of the shaft protrudes slightly and surrounds the pulpit with a small outer platform surrounded by a chain. The identifier is a red flash every 5 seconds ( Fl R 5s ). The current lighthouse from 1915 replaced a wooden lighthouse from 1868. During the Second World War , the tower served as a radio station for the Canadian naval forces .
