Levin Peter (* 1985 in Jena , Germany ) is a director , author and producer and lives in Vienna .

Life

Levin Peter grew up in Jena, where he graduated from high school in 2005. He shot his first documentary "Prestes Maia" in 2007 in cooperation with ZDF and ARTE about the largest squatting in Latin America in 2007 in São Paulo . From 2008 to 2015 Peter completed his directing studies at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . His diploma film "Behind the Snowstorm" won the First Steps Award and was presented as a guest at the Berlinale Perspektive. He was part of the jury of the Visions du Réel film festival and received the Nipkow and Gerd Ruge scholarships. In 2016 Peter and his partner Elsa Kremser founded the production company "RAUMZEITFILM Produktion" in Vienna. Her first film as a directing duo, SPACE DOGS, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2019 and screened at over 40 film festivals worldwide. At the Viennale 2019 the film was awarded the " Vienna Film Prize " as the best Austrian film and also received the Erste Bank MehrWERT Film Prize. Levin Peter is working with Elsa Kremser on his first feature film, THE GREEN WELLENSITTICH, which received the Berlinale Kompagnon Screenplay Award.
