Leynar [ ˈlɛiːnaɹ ] ( Danish name : Lejnum ) is a place in the Faroe Islands in the west of Streymoy .

Leynar has a small sandy beach, Leynarsandur , which is a popular beach for the locals in summer when the weather is nice . The Leynará torrent flows through the village and nearby is the idyllic Leynavatn lake , which is very popular with anglers. At Leynar is the eastern end of the Vágar tunnel . The Faroese writer Guðrið Helmsdal lives and works in the village .
