Li Feng - The one-armed swordsman is a Chinese Wuxia - movie of the 1971st

In the plot, a Chinese heroine is injured so badly by robbers with a sword in the arm that it has to be amputated. She tries to get revenge with just one arm.

action

Li Feng, known as The Slayer or The Avenger , is a kind of Chinese " Robin Hood " and is feared and hated by thieves and robbers in her province. Again and again the opponents strive for their lives.

One day she is surrounded by a group of crooks and involved in a sword fight. A poisoned sword hits her arm. With death before her eyes, she is brought home by a masked man named Black Dragon , who cuts off her poisoned left arm in time and thus saves her life.

After three years of convalescence and hard training, she vows vengeance on the people she nearly killed.

When they meet again, she is again injured in a sword fight and rescued by the same masked man. At dinner together, he confesses his love to her. But the next day, after a night together, he leaves her and suddenly doesn't want to know anything about love anymore.

Through this malice and the dishonorable defloration , Li Feng sets out to find this villain in order to kill him in revenge. She finds him, but it turns out that it wasn't him who spurned her, but a member of the band of robbers. He disguised himself to make Li Feng and the real Black Dragon hate and possibly kill each other. With that the robber group would get rid of their two archenemies in one fell swoop.

Li Feng and the Black Dragon then come up with a plan: They will fight each other in public and apparently kill each other so that the false dragon believes it is safe and crawls out of its hiding place.

The plan works, Li Feng finds him and kills his gang members in revenge and finally kills him after a violent sword fight.

Remarks

The film was the inspiration for the more recent Asian films such as Hero or Tiger & Dragon because of the unnatural "flight characteristics" of the fighters . The fighters defy gravity by being able to jump very high in the air, fight over treetops, run up walls or walk on water.

The aerial scenes, classified by many critics as unrealistic, are an essential part of Chinese fairy tales ( wuxia ) and the heroic fighters were already shown with these extraordinary talents in older theater performances.

The names of the film members are spelled differently depending on the use of the Mandarin or Cantonese language. The actress Ching Ching Chang is also dubbed Cheung Ching Ching .

The film has also been available on DVD since 2004 .

Reviews

Badmovies: “Li Feng - The One-Armed Swordsman” does not come close to classics like “The 36 Chambers of Shaolin” or “Once upon a time in China”, but the film knows how to entertain. It would only be a lot better without the annoying subplot of the men who were humiliated by Li Feng.
