Lia Hietala

Lia Hietala (* 1993 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish film director and screenwriter .

life and work

For her first short film If I say no , Lia Hietala received a grant from the Norwegian Nordnorsk Film Senter, with whose help she made her second film Mon Homosyster , which won a number of prizes, including the Teddy Award at the 2017 Berlinale. She works in the fields of feature and documentary film and studied fine arts at the Swedish Art School Konstfack in Stockholm. She made her first feature- length documentary film, Always Amber , together with Hannah Reinikainen . The film celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale 2020 .
