Lianella Carell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lianella Carell (born May 6, 1927 in Rome ; † December 19, 2000 there ) was an Italian actress and author.

Life

Carell was one of the female “faces from the street” in Italian neorealism , but in contrast to most of her colleagues, she had a clear cultural connection beforehand. She volunteered as a cultural journalist at the radio and won the “Premio Vendemmia” for poetry before she was discovered for the film through an interview with Vittorio De Sica . The director was looking for actresses for his bicycle thieves and engaged the young interviewee. Carell succeeded in appearing just as realistically alongside her teammates who actually came from “the street”. For about a decade, she followed a film career, with ups and downs, but never with the same success as with her first film. The closest she came to this with her reserved and dignified wife in The Gold of Naples next to Totò .

In 1956 Carell published the novel La pellicana ; soon afterwards she turned completely to writing (including shooting templates).
