Libba Bray , actually Martha E. Bray (born March 11, 1964 in Alabama ) is the author of the book trilogy : The Secret Circle .

Life

Bray is the daughter of a preacher and a teacher. When she was 10 she wrote her first short story about a vampire . She grew up in Texas and graduated from college in drama when she was 26 . She then moved to New York City . There she met her current husband, Barry Goldblatt, who supported her as an agent for children's and young adult literature in the creation of her trilogy.

At the age of 18, she was the victim of a car accident in which her face was disfigured. Her face was largely restored through numerous operations. At that time, writing became a form of therapy for her .

Libba Bray has one son and lives with her family in Brooklyn , New York .

The Secret Circle

The trilogy is set in 19th century England . The main character is Gemma Doyle, who loses her mother to suicide. That is why she is sent to London to the "Spence" academy for girls, where she is to be brought up to be a marriageable woman and also a good mother. The school's motto is "Grace, Charm and Beauty". There at school, Gemma meets the brave Felicity, the shy Ann and the beautiful Pippa.

The series consists of the books: "Gemma's Visions", "Circe's Return" and "Kartik's Fate". The first volume became the New York Times bestseller .
