Libertad (or Libertad de Cojedes , Lagunitas ) is a village in the Venezuelan state of Cojedes . It is the administrative seat of the Municipio Ricaurte. The village has about 17,000 inhabitants. The population of the Parroquia is approximately 24,328 people.
history
The Spanish Capuchins founded the Indian village on January 3, 1751 as Divina Pastora del Jobal . Different ethnic groups lived here: Taparitas, Otomaks , Achaguas and Guamos.
politics
In the 2008 elections for mayor, Hilcriy Martínez of the PSUV achieved 62.55% of the vote against 21.28% for the candidate of Patria Para Todos and 21.28% for the candidate of the Mesa de la Unidad .
In the 2010 elections for the National Assembly , the PSUV in Libertad de Cojedes got 80.42% of the vote against 18.03% for the Mesa de la Unidad.
Infrastructure
