GNU LibreJS (also just called LibreJS ) is a free extension for Mozilla Firefox- based browsers that was developed by the GNU project for the purpose of blocking non-free JavaScript elements. It is primarily used to address the JavaScript trap - so-called by Richard Stallman - and the fact that many users unknowingly run proprietary software in their browsers.
description
GNU LibreJS aims to block non-free JavaScript programs that are currently present on many websites. The extension was developed as part of the GNU project by Ruben Rodriguez and Nik Nyby and is included in the standard version of the GNU IceCat browser. The software also works with the Tor browser .
The add-on allows you to create white lists and has an email recognition system for users to convince webmasters to make their JavaScript code LibreJS-compliant. According to the Free Software Foundation , most websites crash while using the add-on due to the widespread use of proprietary JavaScript code on the web . Nevertheless, programmer and activist Richard Stallman supports the use of GNU LibreJS.
