This papal bull was preceded by the dissolution (Bulle Vox in excelso ) of the Templar order and the transfer of property (Bulle Ad providam ) to the Order of the Hospital of St. John in Jerusalem .

This bull is mainly about the settlement of the dispute between the French episcopate and the Holy See . The Pope urged the cardinals and bishops to transfer the acquired privileges to the Order of the Hospital of St. John in Jerusalem. He urged the clergy to obey and warned of a weakening of the Order of the Hospital of St. (St.) John in Jerusalem, which could result from the refusal to transfer the property.
