The Liebfrauenschule Cloppenburg (ULF Cloppenburg) is a state-approved high school in Cloppenburg ( Lower Saxony ), which is sponsored by the St. Benedict School Foundation of the Bischöflich Munster officialate in Vechta.

School history

The school was founded in 1878 with the same name as it is today at the suggestion of the Roman Catholic chaplain Carl Ludwig Niemann . At that time, the school was located in a town house in Cloppenburg, the "Bothesches Estate" in the center of Cloppenburg. In 1881 the upper class of the private teachers' seminar of the Sisters of Our Lady of Vechta was relocated to Cloppenburg. In the course of history, the facility gradually developed from an originally high school for girls into a general high school . In line with the steadily increasing number of female pupils, the school buildings have been considerably expanded over the years. In the period from 1992 to 1994, the UL Frau Sisterhood gave the management of the grammar school and secondary school of the Liebfrauenschule to a new sponsor, the St. Benedict Foundation of the Bischöflich Munster officialate in Vechta, due to a lack of young talent.

School partnerships

An annual school exchange takes place with the Institut de l'Immaculée in Evreux ( France ). Another long-term partnership with student exchange links the Liebfrauenschule with the Gymnázium Dvůr Králové nad Labem ( Czech Republic ). The opportunity to participate in a school exchange is also given due to a long-term partnership that has arisen from several Comenius projects. Partner schools are: the Ciszterci Szent István Gimnázium, Székesfehérvár, Hungary , the Salezijanska klasicna gimnazija, Rijeka, Croatia, the Colegio Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, Trujillo, Spain .
