history

In 1949, Hans Liebherr and a team of engineers, fitters, blacksmiths and technicians designed and built the first mobile tower crane TK 10 in a series of five in Kirchdorf an der Iller . Due to the increasing demand for cranes in the German post-war period , a special workshop for tower cranes was founded in Biberach in 1954. Werk-Biberach is the division's parent company for the other crane production locations in Austria , Brazil , Spain , India and Russia .

On a total area of ​​200,000 m², of which 78,000 m² are covered hall space, 1210 employees produce tailor-made cranes starting from the construction of single-family houses up to all known large construction sites for plant, power plant construction, sports facilities, religious construction sites around the world. In 2011, Liebherr-Components Biberach, another Liebherr plant, was built in Biberach, which develops and produces drive technology components and systems.
