Liem Soei Liong

Liem Soei Liong (born April 1943 in Tasikmalaya , Indonesia) is a Sino - Indonesian human rights activist who lives in exile in the Netherlands and is a Dutch citizen.

He fled his homeland before the massacre in Indonesia 1965-1966 of the Chinese people and the members of the Communist Party of Indonesia . Liem Soei Liong became a member of the Dutch “Komitee Indonesie”, but then switched to the Indonesian human rights organization “TAPOL”, which has its headquarters in London . TAPOL dealt with human rights violations in Indonesia, including those in occupied East Timor .

Awards

In 2015, Liem Soei Liong received the Medal of the Ordem de Timor-Leste from East Timor's President Taur Matan Ruak . The award ceremony took place on May 20, 2015, on the 13th Independence Day of East Timor .
