biography

Elisabeth Herbach was the daughter of a carpenter from Gerstungen, she grew up sheltered in Gerstungen , on Löbersgasse, where the family ran their workshop business. After a serious accident, she had to give up her private and professional plans and from then on devoted herself to her artistic talent, which she had discovered while attending the Eisenach drawing school. As an autodidact , she constantly worked on perfecting her work technique and chose the Gerstung landscape, its people, houses and animals as the main motif for numerous drawings and watercolors . This work had been very difficult for her because of the physical handicap.
