Lieselotte Feikes

Lieselotte Feikes (born 1923 in Viersen ) is a German chemist. She is known for her work in leather chemistry and the development of wastewater treatment processes.

Life

From 1943 Feikes studied chemistry at the University of Halle at the Institute of Karl Ziegler and at the University of Heidelberg . She did her doctorate in 1953 in Heidelberg with Margot Becke-Goehring . From 1953 she worked for the Carl Freudenberg works in Weinheim . She headed the leather laboratory for 20 years and developed wastewater treatment processes for sewage treatment plants . From the beginning of the 1970s she was responsible for environmental protection in the company. In 1983, she wrote the book "Ecological Problems in the Leather Industry". The Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany was awarded for her services to environmental protection .
