Lietuvos šaulių sąjunga (abbreviation: LŠS ; German Lithuanian Rifle Union ) is a paramilitary organization, after the Lithuanian army and the volunteer association Savanorių pajėgos (the national guard of Lithuania) the third line of defense in Lithuania .

history

The association was founded in 1919 and has been active in Lithuania again since 1989. It includes not only soldiers but also civilians of various professions (lawyers, doctors, engineers, civil servants, employees, business people). It currently has over 8,000 members (as of February 2015).
