Vincenz Fuchs (born February 7, 1938 in Kriftel ; † March 1, 2001 ) was a German football player .

Career

Fuchs was born in Kriftel, a town bordering Frankfurt am Main , and began playing football at SV Kriftel , which is located there . In 1961 he moved to the Oberliga Southwest antretenden 1. FSV Mainz 05 ; At that time, the Oberliga was the top division in the league system. On August 5, 1961, the first day of the new season, he was on the pitch against SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken and thus made his debut at the first division level. He then fought for a permanent place in the position of the left winger and was successful as a goalscorer for the first time on matchday six. In 1963 the Bundesliga was founded , the upper leagues were dissolved and the regional leagues were created as the second highest division. From then on, Mainz competed in the Regionalliga Südwest . In the 1963/64 season, the offensive player had his best year in terms of scoring successes and hit the target 20 times. In the course of the following season he was able to build on it with 13 goals, but he slipped with the team from fourth to eleventh place in the table. When he then received a contract offer from Bundesliga club Meidericher SV , he turned his back on Mainz.

In the summer of 1965 he arrived in Meiderich, but had to be content with a reservist role for the German runner-up in 1964. Because substitutions and substitutions were not allowed at the time, he was not called up at all during the first half of the season. Only on March 5, 1966 did he make his debut in a 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt on Bundesliga turf, but showed a rather poor performance. He was not taken into account again and turned his back on the MSV at the end of the 1965/66 season.

After his year in the Bundesliga, he found a new club in the regional division VfR Mannheim , but he was unable to assert himself at this club either and was only used sporadically. Thereupon he ended his high-class career in 1967 at the age of 29. He let his amateur career end with SV 07 Kriftel.
