The Lifta GmbH is the market leader for stair lifts in Germany. The medium-sized, owner-managed company is based in Cologne and has a service network throughout Germany with almost 200 service technicians and 80 consultants. Lifta is one of the most famous stairlift brands in Germany.

history

Lifta Lift und Antrieb GmbH was launched in 1977 as a subsidiary of the Cologne-based family company L-Hopmann Maschinenfabrik GmbH, which was founded in 1883 and originally produced bag winches and elevators.

While the first stairlift was built in Canada in 1930 , the technology was still completely unknown in Germany. Company founder Wolfgang Seick came up with the idea for a stair lift when his mother-in-law could no longer manage the stairs at home on her own at the end of the 1960s and a stair lift was quickly installed. Years later, Wolfgang Seick founded Lifta Lift und Antrieb GmbH in 1977 as a sister company of L-Hopmann Maschinenfabrik GmbH, which established the stairlift on the German market. After successful TÜV and type examination, the first Lifta stairlift was installed in a senior citizens' home in Speyer in 1981.

In 2006, Lifta Lift und Antrieb GmbH was one of the first stairlift companies to offer stairlifts for rent and later to offer its customers individual financing models (2008).

The company has been operating as Lifta GmbH since 2014. The Cologne location and the composition of the management remained unchanged.

Lifta has been part of the Liftstar Group since 2014, which unites several companies from the fields of mobility and barrier-free living. The former sister company of Lifta, the brand for lifts and platform lifts sani-trans, is also part of the Liftstar Group.

Awards

TÜV SÜD has examined the Lifta models 6000, 6100, 5000, 5100, 3000, 3100, 2000, 2100, 260, 261, 400 and 401 and certified them with the Approved Safety Seal (GS mark). The stairlifts received good to very good results in terms of quality management and safe handling in the voluntary test.

In 2003 the Lifta brand was included in the “German Standards - Brands of the Century” project for the first time and in 2011 the Lifta Esprit 4100 model was awarded the “Red Dot Design Award”.

Since 2002, TÜV Süd has consistently certified the stairlift provider Lifta for the quality of products and service.
