The Ligue féminine de handball 2017/18 was the 66th season of the top French division in women's handball and the ninth in the history of the Ligue féminine de handball (LFH). Twelve teams played for the French championship from August 30, 2017, which ended on May 26, 2018.

The French champions 2018 were for the 22nd time in the club's history - and for the third time in a row - the team of Metz Handball ; Le Havre AC Handball was relegated to Division 2 .

Twelve teams initially played in a double round tournament of the regular season, also known as the basic round . The eight teams placed first qualified for the playoffs , which were played in the knockout system with a return leg up to the final. Inferior teams played the final placements in placement games.

The last four teams placed in the regular season determined the relegation to Division 2 in another double round tournament , whereby the teams started the relegation round according to their placement with point specifications (4, 3, 2, 0 points).

The 2017/18 season was the first in which twelve teams took part, after eleven teams in 2016/17 .

Regular season

Defending champion Metz Handball dominated the 2017/18 regular season and took first place undefeated and 10 points ahead. Only on the last day of the match was CJF Fleury Loiret able to secure participation in the playoffs in a direct duel against Toulon Saint-Cyr Var handball with a 27:22 home win.

Metz Handball became French champions for the 22nd time and also qualified for the group stage of the EHF Champions League 2018/19 . Per Wildcard also received Brest a place in the Champions League.
