The Linchpin Ice Rise (for English Twist and Angel point-ice cap ) was an ice cap before Fallières coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It loomed northeast of the Miller Ice Rise near the front of the Wordie Ice Shelf .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the ice dome using Landsat surveys from 1974 to 1979. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it that because it played a crucial role in the existence of the Wordie Ice Shelf front in 1979. With the retreat of the Wordie Ice Shelf, the ice dome ceased to exist in 1998.
