Linda Castillo

Linda Castillo (* 1960 in Dayton, Ohio ) is an American writer . She is best known for her thriller and crime series around police chief Kate Burkholder, which investigates the Amish milieu in Ohio .

Life

Linda Castillo grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and wrote her first novel in her youth, but never published it, and worked as a finance manager for many years before devoting herself entirely to her writing.

She wrote numerous romantic thrillers and romance novels, but her international breakthrough came with Sworn to Silence , the first detective novel in the Kate Burkholder series, which appeared in 2009 and was published in German translation in 2010 under the title The Numbers of the Dead . The book could immediately on the bestseller list of the New York Times put, also stood for weeks on the mirror bestseller list and was in 2013 under the title An Amish Murder with Neve Campbell filmed in the lead role. In the meantime, other crime novels about Police Chief Kate Burkholder have appeared; the series is not yet over. Linda Castillo had contact with Amish as a child, has always been fascinated by this ethnic-religious subculture and has meticulously researched and spoken to parishioners for her series of novels around Kate Burkholder, which investigates this milieu.

She has received numerous prizes for her books, including the Daphne du Maurier Award and the Golden Heart Award, and has also been nominated for the RITA Award.
