Linda Vilhjálmsdóttir (born June 1, 1958 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic writer.

She studied health and nursing and continues to work in this field in addition to her literary work. Linda Vilhjálmsdóttir stood out in particular with her poems, which were initially published in newspapers and magazines, and since 1990 in several volumes of poetry. Plays and “poetry happenings ” by Linda Vilhjálmsdóttir have been performed in the Reykjavík City Theater . Her first prose work was published in 2003 with the novel Lygasaga .

Awards

  • 1993: DV Culture Prize for the volume of poetry Klakabörnin ("Eiskinder").
  • 2005: Ljóðastafur Jóns úr Vör -Prize for the poem Sónata fyrir forynju og fylgirödd.
  • 2010: RÚV Writer's Prize from the Icelandic Radio .
