Lindsay Tanner (born April 24, 1956 in Orbost , Victoria ) is an Australian politician .

Life

After finishing school, Tanner studied law and history at the University of Melbourne . Tanner is a member of the Australian Labor Party . From February 8, 1993 to July 19, 2010, Tanner was a member of the Australian Parliament . Since December 3, 2007, Tanner has succeeded Nick Minchin as Minister of Finance in Australia .

After retiring as a member of the Australian Parliament, Tanner got a job at Victoria University in August 2010 . Tanner lives with his family in Alphington , Victoria and is a member of the Anglican Church of Australia . Tanner has four children from two marriages.
