Lineage is one of the world's most successful MMORPGs . It was developed and distributed by NCsoft and is based on the comic book by Il Sook Shin . It reached player numbers of over 2.5 million and even today the number of active players is just under a million. It will continue to be expanded and maintained by NCsoft. It is considered to be one of the founders of the Asian MMORPG game scene and influenced many later developments such as: B. Ragnarok Online or Overlord . In 2003 the also very successful sequel Lineage II was released.

Gameplay

The player can choose from five different character classes with different attributes and skills. Magician (Mage), Elf, Dunkel Elf (Dark Elf), Knight (Knight) and Noble (Prince / Princess). There is no clear aim of the game. The player can decide for himself whether he would rather develop his character, hunt monsters or fight with other players. The core of the game is the noble character class, which has the option of forging so-called blood pledges with other players. She can use it to declare war on other groups with such blood oaths and take castles. There are towns, NPCs and shops near the castles . If a nobleman owns a castle with his blood pledges, he can set taxes in the area for all purchases and sales. If another nobleman or dissatisfied player in the area wants to depose the current ruler, the castle will be sieged. The attempt must be made to escort the new nobleman into the castle hall within a certain time without him dying, so that the ruler then changes.

Game flow

The game has a 2-D isometric representation similar to Diablo . You control your character with the help of the mouse through the environment and can attack NPC monsters that appear / spawn outside of cities . If these are defeated, you get experience points and improve your figure over time. The NPC monsters also drop items that can be used or processed into other items.
