Robenhausen is a district of the city of Wetzikon in the Hinwil district of the canton of Zurich .
Today's political municipality Wetzikon consists of the former civil parishes of Robenhausen, Robank , Kempten , Ettenhausen , Ober- and Unterwetzikon , Stegen, Walfershausen and the district of Medikon.
archeology
The Robenhausen area was settled as early as the Neolithic . In 1943 the remains of a dugout canoe that had not been dated to this day were found in the Robenhauser Ried, and in 2002 the remains of a settlement of the bell beaker culture (2500–2200 BC) were found. Two Bronze Age pendants were found in Robenhausen-Himmerich . Thanks to the neighboring prehistoric site of Robenhausen , Wetzikon is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps .
education
The primary school Robenhausen is located in Robenhausen as an elementary school (grades 1-6). There is also a Rudolf Steiner School in Robenhausen.
social life
On Saturdays between the middle of March and the beginning of December, the “Robehuuser Wuchemärt” is a weekly market. This market as well as shops, a post office and several restaurants give Robenhausen a certain village character compared to other districts of Wetzikon .
In 1976, a “ Quartierverein Robenhausen” was formed in the district, the aim of which is to maintain and promote the community spirit in the district and to represent the residents to the authorities. There is also a tennis club with the TC Robenhausen and the Carnival Society Robenhausen. On April 1st, 2000 the ice hockey club HC Robehuuse was founded. He plays in the Zurich ice hockey league ZEP.
The Aabach Group Robenhausen takes care of the old Badihütte, a boathouse from 1905. They also organize the traditional Aabach Festival on the last Saturday in May every year.
Since November 11th 2010 there is now also the association "Theater Robehuuse" located here. The only theater association in Wetzik puts on a humorous play every September, in the singing hall of the Robenhausen schoolhouse.
