Linear generator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A linear generator is a generator , of a rectilinear, not resulting in an axis of rotation kinetic energy into electrical energy converted. Such an electrical generator is used, for example, in the Transrapid to power the vehicle.

However, the linear generator acts as an additional resistance up to a speed of 100 km / h. Use only proves to be an advantage at higher speeds and is therefore economical. The counterpart is the linear motor , which conversely converts the electrical energy into kinetic energy and thus enables a force to be exerted over a distance without rotating parts ( wheel , gear ).
