Linear plain bearings

Linear bearings , and sliding bushes called, are hollow cylinders made from special materials with a clearly defined inner and outer diameter . Corresponding lubricants are embedded in the pores of the bearing inner walls , which reduce the friction between the bearing and the shaft and thus enable the shaft guide to slide easily . These are mainly found in plastic bearings or bearings made of sintered metals. In the case of sintered metals , this is particularly useful because the production process already creates a porosity and lubricants last a long time. However, there are also plain bearings that do not require any lubricant at all because the materials used have good sliding properties themselves. Examples are copper alloys.

Linear plain bearing sizes are usually defined according to the inside diameter.
