Skeleton font (also linear font) is a term from typography . It is a in font style very lean held writing. It originated around 900 BC. BC in ancient Greece and experienced its heyday around the year 300 BC. It stands in contrast to the later rounded fonts such as the Roman Antiqua and is written with the redis pen.

Another meaning of the term skeleton script relates to the Semitic scripts, such as the Hebrew script and the Arabic script , which contain no vowels but only consonants , some of which can, however, also serve as auxiliary vowels.
