The Lingyan Temple ( Chinese  靈巖寺  /  灵岩寺 , Pinyin Língyán sì , English Lingyan Temple ) in the Chinese village of Wande 万 德 镇 of the Changqing District (长 清 区) of the city of Jinan , Shandong Province , is about 40 km located south of Jinan and 25 km north of Tai'an .

The temple was one of the most famous Buddhist temples during the Tang and Song Dynasties.

It was established in the Yongxing reign (357–359) of the Earlier Qin ( Qian Qin ) period, developed in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386–534), and reached the Tang Dynasty and Song -Dynasty its heyday.

In his "Hall of a Thousand Buddhas" ( Qianfodian ) from the Tang Dynasty, there are forty colorful clay sculptures of Arhats from the Song Dynasty. The Chinese scholar Liang Qichao counted them among the most famous statues in the world.

Lingyan Temple has been on the List of Monuments of the People's Republic of China since 1982 (2-21)

Together with the Guoqing Temple in Tiantai Shan , the Yuquan Temple in Wudang Shan and the Qixia Temple in Qixia Shan, it is one of the four great temples (Si da ming cha 四大 名刹) in China.
