Linus Thornblad
Linus Thörnblad (born March 6, 1985 in Lund ) is a Swedish high jumper . The 1.80 m tall and 76 kg heavy Thörnblad won bronze at the 2006 World Indoor Championships.
Career
After Thörnblad did not reach the finals at the 2001 World Youth Championships and the 2002 Junior World Championships, he won bronze at the European Junior Championships in 2003 with 2.23 meters. In the 2003 season he also made his first jump over 2.30 meters. At the Junior World Championships in 2004, the first five jumpers jumped over 2.21 meters, Thörnblad was ranked fourth. At the Olympic Games 2004 Thörnblad did not reach the final.
In 2006 Thörnblad was third at the World Indoor Championships with 2.33 meters and for the first time left his compatriot Stefan Holm behind in an important competition . In front of a home crowd at the 2006 European Championships , Thörnblad improved to 2.34 meters, but was only fourth behind Holm due to a failed attempt. In the 2007 indoor season, Thörnblad rose to 2.38 meters at the Swedish Indoor Championships. At the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007, he crossed 2.32 meters and won silver behind Holm. At the 2007 World Championships , Thörnblad qualified for the finals, but there he was eliminated in 15th place with 2.16 meters.
